How to Store Matcha for Freshness:

To preserve the delicate flavor of matcha, proper storage is essential.

  • Once opened, transfer the tea to an airtight container (such as a ziplock bag) and keep it in the refrigerator.

  • If you don’t plan to use it soon, freezing is highly recommended. Matcha does not solidify in the freezer, so there are no problems storing it this way.

  • Avoid room temperature storage, as the tea will lose its freshness quickly.

Marukyu Koyamaen matcha typically has a shelf life of 6–7 months, and we ship freshly ground matcha within 2 weeks of production to ensure the best flavor.
