Marukyu Koyamaen – Urasenke Konnomi Collection (Preferred Matcha of the Grand Master)
This distinguished series of eight matcha blends is specially crafted by Marukyu Koyamaen, one of Uji’s most respected tea producers with over 350 years of history. Each blend was selected and named by the Grand Master of Urasenke (Konnomi / “preferred blend”), the largest school of Japanese tea, headquartered at Konnichi-an (Today-an) in Kyoto.
These matcha are not simply “ceremonial grade” as marketed in general tea commerce—they are the true ceremonial-grade matcha used in the Way of Tea (chanoyu), served in formal tea gatherings and lessons led by Urasenke practitioners worldwide.
The collection represents the pinnacle of matcha artistry, offering a refined range of flavors, aromas, and textures suitable for both thick tea (koicha) and thin tea (usucha). Each of the eight blends carries the cultural depth, heritage, and elegance of Urasenke’s tea tradition.
For students and teachers of tea, as well as for connoisseurs seeking authenticity, the Urasenke Konnomi Collection embodies the essence of Japanese tea at its highest standard.
