Chashaku Carving Workshop
Limited to 20 participants only.

This workshop involves the use of a knife.
Please understand that handling sharp tools carries inherent risk, and participation is at your own responsibility.
Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver upon arrival before participating.

We will prepare a knife for you.
Please indicate your dominant hand:

□ Left-handed

Workshop Flow

  1. Please gather at Cedartree Hotel
    (Kindly arrive 10 minutes before the workshop begins)
  2. Learn about the history and beauty of Takayama chasen
    (Approx. 15 minutes)
  3. Live demonstration and explanation of chasen craftsmanship
    (Approx. 15 minutes)
  4. Hands-on chasen-making experience
    (Approx. 60 minutes)
  5. Take home the chashaku you created
