Tame-nuri Fubuki Natsume – Chinkin & Kinma-bori

A refined Japanese Fubuki-style natsume (雪吹棗) finished in deep tame-nuri (溜塗) and decorated using traditional chinkin (沈金) and kinma-bori (蒟醤彫) lacquer techniques.

The rich, translucent depth of the tame lacquer gives the surface a warm reddish-brown to deep brown appearance, creating an elegant background for the finely carved decoration.

Chinkin, literally “sunken gold,” is a traditional lacquer technique in which a design is carefully incised into the lacquered surface and the carved lines are filled to create a metallic effect.
