About the Artist – Sojun Mizude (水出宋絢)

Sojun Mizude is a Japanese ceramic artist born in Kyoto in 1948, specializing in traditional Kyo-yaki (Kyoto pottery).

After graduating from the Kyoto Prefectural Ceramic Training School in 1972, he established his own kiln in Yamashina, Kyoto, in 1977.

In 1979, he held a collaborative exhibition with Seisui Kosho, a distinguished Buddhist monk of Todaiji Temple in Nara. His works have also been selected for numerous traditional craft exhibitions.

With decades of experience in Kyoto ceramics, Mizude creates matcha bowls that reflect the traditions of Japanese pottery while incorporating seasonal and decorative designs.
