Gokuchōan represents the pinnacle of Marukyu Koyamaen’s ceremonial matcha — a masterpiece from a Kyoto tea house with over three centuries of Uji tea tradition.
Hand-picked from the most tender, shade-grown leaves and stone-milled to perfection, it delivers an exquisite balance of sweetness, depth, and umami.
The flavor is exceptionally smooth, almost free from bitterness, and lingers with a noble, mellow richness.
When whisked, Gokuchōan produces a fine, silky foam and a brilliant, vibrant green hue — a true expression of Japanese tea artistry.
This distinguished matcha has been recognized internationally, earning a Great Taste Award in the United Kingdom, where judges praised its elegant aroma, refined umami, and harmonious aftertaste.
Ideal for koicha (thick tea) in the formal tea ceremony, it is also a superb choice for connoisseurs seeking the highest expression of Uji matcha quality.
How to Store Matcha for Freshness:
To preserve the delicate flavor of matcha, proper storage is essential.
-
Once opened, transfer the tea to an airtight container (such as a ziplock bag) and keep it in the refrigerator.
-
If you don’t plan to use it soon, freezing is highly recommended. Matcha does not solidify in the freezer, so there are no problems storing it this way.
-
Avoid room temperature storage, as the tea will lose its freshness quickly.
Marukyu Koyamaen matcha typically has a shelf life of 6–7 months, and we ship freshly ground matcha within 2 weeks of production to ensure the best flavor.
