Kyo Ware
Kyoto’s Traditional Pottery
Kyo yaki and Kiyomizu yaki are iconic Kyoto pottery styles, originally from the Higashiyama and Gojozaka areas near Kiyomizu dera Temple. Known for their elegance, decorative foil, and diverse designs, these ceramics have served tea masters, shoguns, and the imperial family for centuries. Today, all pottery produced in Kyoto is often referred to as Kyo yaki or Kiyomizu yaki, representing high quality Japanese ceramics, Kyoto pottery, and traditional tea ceremony wares.
