Chashaku with Zen Calligraphy (Very Good Pre-Owned Condition) by Kobayashi Taigen

This bamboo chashaku (matcha tea scoop) was crafted by Sōshun and is accompanied by an original hakogaki (box inscription) written by Kobayashi Taigen, former abbot of Daitoku-ji, one of Kyoto’s most important Zen temples.

The chashaku bears the poetic name “Sanae - 早苗”, a name that evokes freshness, renewal, and the quiet vitality of early summer—imagery deeply rooted in the aesthetics of the Japanese tea ceremony.
