In Japan, truly organic matcha is remarkably rare.
Less than 10% of all matcha produced in Japan comes from certified organic tea fields.
Cultivating organic tencha—the shaded tea leaves used for matcha—requires extraordinary dedication.
Farmers must protect delicate tea plants from insects and disease without using chemicals, while maintaining healthy soil and traditional shading techniques.
Only a handful of family-owned farms in Kyoto and a few other regions have mastered this careful balance between tradition and sustainability.

🍃 A Heritage of 350 Years

The tea farm contracted by Chanomi has cultivated its own tea gardens for over 350 years, since the Genroku era of the Edo period, now cared for by the seventh generation.
Located on the slopes of a mountain in Uji, Kyoto, the farm is surrounded only by natural woodlands — free from neighboring tea fields or farmlands — allowing for the safe cultivation of organic, pesticide-free tea in harmony with nature.

Every year, the tea fields and production facilities undergo strict inspections by accredited organic certification bodies under Japan’s new Organic JAS Law, and are certified by JAS(USDA), JONA, and OCIA International.
From cultivation to processing and packaging, everything is handled within this certified system.
The tea is refined in a modern production facility in the Kinki region, where skilled artisans carefully finish each batch using both tradition and state-of-the-art methods.

At our partner tea farm in Uji, Kyoto, these values are not trends—they are a heritage.
For generations, this family has preserved the art of tea cultivation by combining deep respect for nature with refined craftsmanship.
From this land come two remarkable expressions of Uji matcha: Tenko and Shingetsu.

☀️ Tenko – Heaven’s Light

Bright, uplifting, and harmoniously balanced, Tenko blends Okumidori and Sayamakaori cultivars.
It’s a matcha that captures the feeling of morning light — smooth, refreshing, and full of clarity.

🌕 Shingetsu – True Moon

Made from 100% Okumidori, Shingetsu is a rare ceremonial grade organic matcha.
In Zen, the “True Moon” reflects an enlightened mind—calm, pure, and free.
Each sip reveals a silky texture, deep umami, and a serene sense of peace.
With fewer than one in ten matcha grown organically, Shingetsu is truly exceptional — a tea for moments of quiet reflection and mindful indulgence.

From Kyoto’s ancient hills to your teabowl, experience the timeless beauty of Japan’s tea culture in every vibrant, jade-green cup.
