About Koyamaen: A 300-Year Legacy in Uji, Kyoto
For over three centuries, Marukyu Koyamaen has been a esteemed tea producer in Uji, Kyoto. Renowned for its production of matcha powder, the essence of traditional Japanese tea, it holds a special place in the hearts of tea ceremony practitioners worldwide. Koyamaen's presence plays a crucial role in disseminating the culture of the Japanese tea ceremony to a global audience.
How to preserve matcha to keep it fresh as used by many tea ceremony practitioners:
To keep matcha fresh, it's best to store it in an airtight container, like a ziplock bag, in the refrigerator once it's been opened. If you don't plan to use it right away, we highly recommend freezing it. Matcha doesn't solidify, so storing it in the freezer poses no issues. Avoid storing it at room temperature.
To savor the exquisite flavor of matcha, maintaining its freshness is crucial. Nara tea (Marukyu Koyamaen) has a shelf life of 6 to 7 months, and freshly ground matcha will be shipped within 2 weeks of production.
