Black Tray (Yamamichibon)

Black Tray (Yamamichibon) is a wooden tray with a textured lacquer finish. Its slightly raised edge undulates like the slopes of a mountain path, which is how it got its name. Traditionally, it is used in Urasenke tea ceremony for Bon-ryaku-temae and the “Unohana” tea box procedure, and is also suitable for practice in abbreviated tray tea preparation.

For those who do not practice tea ceremony, it can be used as a serving tray for meals or tea, or as a display for sweets and small items. A refined and beautiful piece that brings a touch of traditional Japanese aesthetics into everyday life.
