Takeyofushi – Bamboo-Node Form

The name Takeyofushi (竹節) refers to the distinctive form inspired by the natural nodes, or joints, of bamboo.

Bamboo has long held an important place in Japanese art and culture. Its ability to remain green throughout the year and to bend without easily breaking has made it an enduring symbol of resilience, vitality, and strength.

The bamboo-inspired form gives this cha-ire a distinctive character while retaining the quiet refinement appropriate for Chanoyu.

A chaire (茶入) is traditionally used to hold matcha for the preparation of koicha (thick tea). Within Chanoyu, the cha-ire is appreciated not only as a functional vessel but also for its form, glaze, lid, and the textile selected for its shifuku.
