Dashibukusa – Japanese Tea Ceremony Silk Cloth
Dashibukusa – Japanese Tea Ceremony Silk Cloth
Dashibukusa (出帛紗) is a decorative silk cloth used in the Japanese tea ceremony, primarily by the Omotesenke and Mushakōjisenke schools.
It is traditionally used when serving koicha (thick matcha), placed beneath the tea bowl as a gesture of respect and care.
Dashibukusa are often made from fine silk fabrics featuring traditional Japanese patterns, adding elegance and seasonal beauty to the tea ceremony.
Please note: The Urasenke school generally uses a smaller cloth called Kobukusa (古帛紗), which differs in size and usage from Dashibukusa.
