A charming hand-painted Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware) matcha bowl featuring Momotaro (桃太郎), the legendary Peach Boy of Japanese folklore.

Momotaro is one of Japan’s most beloved folk heroes, known for his courage, strength, and determination. According to the traditional story, he was born from a giant peach and later set out on an adventure accompanied by a dog, monkey, and pheasant.

Because of his association with courage, healthy growth, and strength, Momotaro has long been a popular motif for Children’s Day (Kodomo no Hi) and the seasonal celebrations surrounding May 5 in Japan.

The playful hand-painted design brings warmth and character to the tea room while maintaining the refined craftsmanship associated with Kyoto ceramics.
