This Organic JAS Certified Matcha is made from carefully selected tencha (the leaves used to produce matcha), organically grown by members of the Wakōkai—a dedicated group of Uji tea farmers who cultivate tea exclusively for Marukyu Koyamaen.
After harvest, the tencha is slowly stone-ground using traditional granite mills, preserving its vibrant green color, silky texture, and rich, well-balanced flavor.
At Nara Tea, we receive freshly produced matcha directly from Marukyu Koyamaen and ship it as fresh as possible, so you can enjoy the authentic taste of premium Uji matcha.
How to Store Matcha for Maximum Freshness
Proper storage is essential to preserve matcha's delicate aroma and flavor.
-
After opening, transfer the matcha to an airtight container (such as a zip-top bag or airtight canister) and store it in the refrigerator.
-
If you don't plan to use it within a few weeks, freezing is recommended. Matcha does not freeze solid and can be stored safely in the freezer.
-
Avoid storing matcha at room temperature for extended periods, as exposure to heat, light, and air will quickly reduce its freshness.
Marukyu Koyamaen matcha typically has a shelf life of 6–7 months. Whenever possible, Nara Tea ships matcha that has been stone-ground within two weeks to ensure exceptional freshness.
