Akikusa is a beloved seasonal theme in Japanese art and the tea tradition, evoking the quiet beauty of wild grasses and flowers as summer gives way to autumn. Rather than depicting the season through brilliant fall foliage, the delicate autumn grasses express a softer and more poetic side of the season.
