Nambu Cast Iron Trivet – Geometric Six-Pointed Star Design
A distinctive Nambu cast iron trivet (kama-shiki / 釜敷) featuring an intricate geometric design centered around a bold six-pointed star motif.
The layered geometric pattern creates a striking sense of symmetry, while the surrounding openwork elements add visual movement and allow the design to stand out beautifully against the surface beneath.
Finished in classic black, the trivet has a strong, sculptural appearance that highlights the character of traditional Japanese cast iron. Its detailed openwork design makes it attractive not only as a functional tea accessory, but also as a decorative object.
Traditionally, a kama-shiki (釜敷) is placed beneath a hot iron kettle or teapot to help protect the table or surface from heat. The substantial cast iron construction provides a stable base for a kettle while adding an elegant accent to the tea setting.
Made in Japan in the tradition of Nambu Tekki (南部鉄器), this piece combines practical function with bold geometric design.
It can be used with a tetsubin, Japanese iron kettle, teapot, or other hot serving vessel, and also makes an interesting addition to a collection of Japanese metalwork.
