Akaji koushi Renju Monyou Shokkou Nishiki | 赤地格子連珠文様蜀江錦
The pattern features a floral ground with a double lattice containing connected bead motifs, flowers, and honeysuckle designs.
It is based on fabric from the Asuka period used in the Shokō small banner, said to be one of Japan’s oldest banners, originally applied to its borders and dividing sections.
