Morisato Touraku is extremely popular in Japan. Each piece is carefully handmade, featuring the signature floral patterns that define Morisato Touraku. This matcha bowl has a slightly textured surface and is crafted in a tenmoku style, with an open rim and a narrower base, forming a “mortar-like” shape. When held, you can appreciate the delicate, continuous stamped designs, each impression carefully crafted by hand. Enjoying matcha in one of these handmade bowls makes tea time truly special, and they also make a beautiful and thoughtful gift. Each bowl comes with a paulownia wood box.
Kindly note that each piece is individually handmade, so the color may differ slightly from the photo. We appreciate your understanding.
About Morisato Touraku:
Morisato Touraku is a pottery studio in Kyoto that began its work in the early 1900s (around the Taisho period, 1912–1926), and has continued for over 100 years. Their signature style is called Kyo-Mishima, known for its soft, refined beauty.
The studio uses a traditional technique called Inka, where patterns are carved or stamped into the clay and then filled with white slip. This creates delicate, lace-like floral designs. The result is pottery that is both elegant and warm, decorative yet comforting.
