This elegant Katatsuki Chaire (shouldered tea caddy) is handcrafted by ceramic artist Ryuji Nakagawa and finished with a traditional Seto glaze, a style of glazing that originated in the renowned pottery region of Seto, Japan. Seto ware is celebrated for its refined craftsmanship, warm character, and beautiful glazes, making it one of Japan's most respected ceramic traditions.
The Katatsuki is one of the classic shapes of tea caddies used in the Japanese tea ceremony. As its name suggests, it features well-defined "shoulders," a gently rounded body, and softly tapered top and base, creating a harmonious and well-balanced silhouette that has been admired by tea practitioners for centuries.
The tea caddy comes with a beautifully crafted Shifuku (protective silk pouch) made from 100% pure silk, and is presented in a traditional wooden storage box.
