2027 Imperial Poetry Theme “Tabi” (旅 – Journey) Kaishi Paper
Celebrate the 2027 Imperial Poetry Theme, “Tabi” (旅), meaning “Journey,” with this traditional Japanese kaishi paper.
Each year, the Imperial Household Agency of Japan announces a special poetry theme (Otodai, お題) for the annual New Year's Poetry Reading Ceremony (Utakai Hajime) at the Imperial Palace.
The theme for 2027 is “Tabi” (Journey), reflecting the beauty of travel, life’s journeys, and the experiences and connections made along the way.
Kaishi is traditional Japanese folded paper used in Chanoyu (the Way of Tea), primarily for serving and enjoying wagashi (Japanese sweets).
This special themed kaishi is a lovely choice for New Year and Hatsugama (the first tea gathering of the year), adding a meaningful seasonal touch to your tea ceremony.
Made in Japan.
