Matcha Obukucha Ceremonial Grade Uji Matcha

Obukucha is a traditional Japanese tea enjoyed on New Year’s Day, prepared with freshly drawn water and shared among family members to celebrate the new year and pray for health and good fortune in the year ahead.

Smooth, refined, and well-balanced, it is a matcha meant to be savored slowly—honoring both tradition and the quiet joy of a new beginning.

How to Store Matcha for Freshness:

To preserve the delicate flavor of matcha, proper storage is essential.

  • Once opened, transfer the tea to an airtight container (such as a ziplock bag) and keep it in the refrigerator.

  • If you don’t plan to use it soon, freezing is highly recommended. Matcha does not solidify in the freezer, so there are no problems storing it this way.

  • Avoid room temperature storage, as the tea will lose its freshness quickly.

Marukyu Koyamaen matcha typically has a shelf life of 6–7 months, and we ship freshly ground matcha within 2 weeks of production to ensure the best flavor.
