Hōgetsudō Wasanbon Higashi Assortment – Autumn (Small)

This is an assortment of wasanbon sweets made with fine wasanbon sugar, a traditional specialty of Sanuki, Kagawa.

When we see fallen nuts along the path, it brings to mind a familiar fairy tale:
“As the clear wind blew, the chestnut tree dropped its nuts with a scatter.”
—from “The Wildcat and the Acorns” in The Restaurant of Many Orders by Kenji Miyazawa.

Chestnuts, mushrooms, squirrels, and acorns—many autumn motifs appear in this story, drawn with a touch of humor. Reading it again, one can almost recall the childhood memory of filling pockets with acorns to take home.

This wasanbon assortment captures that feeling—an autumn treasure box filled with nostalgic motifs of the season.

Please note that the assortment contents and packaging may vary depending on the year.

What is Wasambon?
Wasambon is a rare, fine-grained sugar from Tokushima and Kagawa in Japan, artisan-crafted for over 200 years. Made using traditional techniques passed down through generations, its delicate sweetness and smooth texture make it a prized ingredient in wagashi—elegant confections served in Japanese tea ceremonies to perfectly complement matcha.
