Mizuhiki “Ume-musubi” Wasanbon Sugar
Mizuhiki are decorative cords traditionally used on noshi envelopes and gift wrappings for celebrations in Japan.
Among the many symbolic mizuhiki knots, the Ume-musubi (plum knot) has been carefully crafted into wasanbon sugar.
As its name suggests, the Ume-musubi is inspired by the plum blossom, a flower long regarded as a symbol of good fortune and renewal.
The knot is tied firmly and is difficult to unravel, carrying meanings such as strong bonds, protection from misfortune, and the improvement of one’s destiny. For this reason, it is considered appropriate for all kinds of celebratory occasions.
The red pieces are delicately flavored with plum, offering a refreshing and light taste, while the white pieces allow you to enjoy the pure, traditional flavor of wasanbon.
