Moegiji Oribe Donsu | 萌黄地織部純子
One of the celebrated meibutsugire (notable textiles). This donsu (satin brocade) is said to have been favored by Furuta Oribe. The present piece features a pale green (moegi) ground woven with gold-brown threads to depict a flowing-water (ryūsui) ground pattern and plum blossom motifs. Although the wave pattern differs in its depiction, textiles in the Oribe style are said to almost invariably combine wave and plum blossom designs.
